Structural Design
At Modulus we have professionally qualified structural engineering staff that can carry out the structural design for your building, whether it is a new building or alterations to an existing building.
We are experienced in working with architects, builders and client/homeowners to produce designs that are cost-effective and practical. Our services range from initial discussions to determine the feasibility of a project, through to the final design including the production of calculations and drawings.
Alterations
As professionals we generally expect to visit the site for any structural alterations, or for creating new openings for extensions. A site visit is usually essential as it enables the professional engineer to make his/her own assessment of the existing building and establish how the walls and floors are supported. If a builder has been appointed we will liaise with them so that proposed structural members suit their methods of working.
New Build
We will work with the architect and/or builder to produce the sizes for all the structural elements including, beams, walls and foundations.
Building Control
For any structural alternations approval should be obtained from the Local Authority Building Control department. We will produce the structural calculations and drawings ready for submission to Building Control.
Fees
We understand that construction work can be expensive and will seek to provide you with a cost-effective service. Our fees depend on the complexity involved, which for structural alternations is not always possible to know in advance. We generally charge on an hourly basis, but we will give you an estimate of the overall cost before we carry out any work and will contact you if we foresee any changes.
